About Us
The team here works tirelessly to ensure our clients have the best possible experience in our beautiful Northern Saskatchewan Forest from the incredible wildlife you get to hunt to the delicious homemade meals you get to eat during your time with us.
For over 20 years the crew at Headhunter Outfitters has been delivering excellent, high-quality hunts to hundreds of hunters from all over North America.
Our goal is to help you achieve your dream hunt and outdoors experience, with returning clients over the past two decades, we make sure you can prove yourself a skilled hunter when you take home that glorious Whitetail Deer or Bear.
Our Camp
What sets us apart from most outfit teams is our location and the lengths we go to ensure you get to have access to the exclusive 42 000 acres of forest our facilities and blinds are located across.
7 miles (11 kilometers) in by ATV, we take you to an incredibly remote spot in the forest far from any towns or cities where you will be met by the team at our Lodge.
Upon arriving at the Lodge we will show you in where you will find our main dining and lounge area, warm shower, and kitchen. From there we will get you set up in your cozy & private log cabin.
When staying with us we will provide you with warm fires, comfy beds, good company, delicious food and even free wi-fi, so you can share the joy with your friends and family back home all while embracing the remoteness and exhilaration of the deep forest.
There are not many places on God’s Green Earth where you can experience nature and wildlife in this way and we recognize what a gift it is to have access to this, and we make it our mission to share it with as many passionate outdoorsmen as we can.
Preparing Your Hunt
It all begins with a phone call to our Head Hunter, Joseph, and before you know it you will find yourself enjoying all that the great Canadian wilderness has to offer.
Once you book your hunt with Joseph, you will need to get a few things in order for your week in the North. We suggest arriving one day early to spend in Saskatoon, SK if you are choosing to fly. Saskatoon has wonderful hotels, restaurants and a Bass Pro Shop where you must purchase your tags and other outdoors supplies you may feel you need.
From your hotel you can arrange to book a rental vehicle or request to be picked up by a Headhunter team member from your hotel and drive to Sled Lake, SK where you will begin preparations to enter the dense Northern Saskatchewan Forest.
A few important things you must have to hunt in Canada:
Your Bear or Whitetail Deer and Wolf tags (purchase upon arrival)
Passport
Non-Resident Firearms Declaration Form (RCMP 5589)
If you can, fill out this form before you arrive at your entry point to Canada to save you time. DO NOT SIGN THE FORM; A Canadian Border Services Agent (CBSA) must witness your signature at point of entry. ($25cdn)
HAL Number (will only need to be purchased to hunt and fish in Canada once in your life, if you already have a HAL but cannot find it, do not purchase another one, refer to the Saskatchewan HAL website for guidance)

VERY IMPORTANT:
Proper outdoor gear can make or break your hunting experience. This section is not to deter you, but to ensure you have the best possible time in camp.
Whitetail Deer Hunting takes place during November, the earliest month of the Canadian Winter. The temperatures and weather patterns can as be unpredictable and dangerous as they are interesting and breathtaking to observe when up here. It can get as low as -13°F (-25°C) and sometimes even colder. If we are pulling you from the blind to keep you warm at the lodge, you lose out on valuable hunting time, so please dress properly.
Winter Gloves and an orange or red Watch Cap/Toque
Winter Boots
Snow pants and winter jacket
These items should be marketed as withstanding cold temperatures of up to -40°C, -60°C and even -100°C, although it is highly unlikely we will ever see temperatures this cold
You will also need an orange or red vest to wear overtop of your winter jacket, you can also just wear an orange or red winter jacket.
In addition to the outdoor gear you should also pack comfortable clothes for spending time at camp, long underwear and other warm clothing items to wear under your outdoor gear. Do not underestimate how chilly those blinds can get.
Spring bear hunts take place during or shortly after all the heavy snow from winter melts. Even though the temperature is significantly warmer at 50°F to 60 °F (10°C to 15°C), the wet mud still requires proper outdoor gear.
Rubber boots
Rain jacket & pants
Lighter gloves & head gear
Orange hat & vest if shooting with a rifle
Spring time is more enjoyable sweater weather despite the muddy trails, so pack to your personal level of need & comfort.
